Gouda Talks: Drawing Recipes Outside the Lines

In recent years, there has been a new wave of culturally thoughtful and insightful cookbooks. One of the masterminds behind this movement is Julia Turshen. Julia is a bestselling cookbook author with cookbook accolades from The New York Times, Eater and NPR. She strives to make cooking a more inclusive conversation by running EATT, an inclusive digital directory of women and non-binary individuals in food, and advocates for changing racial disparities in food through cookbooks. In the third episode of Gouda Talks, Jess Eng sits down with Julia to learn more about her perspective and experiences with social justice food initiatives, her process of curating recipes, and her favorite memories in the kitchen.

Jess Eng is a reporter for WHRB News and the host of Gouda Talks—listen to previous previous episodes here and here! Tune in to "As We Know It" on Sunday at 12:30 for more stories like this one.
