Morgan welcomes farmer and community gardener Karen Washington, who has spent decades working to bring New Yorkers fresh, locally grown food. She began by working with neighborhoods in her home, the Bronx, to turn empty lots into community gardens. In 2014, she co-founded Rise and Root Farm in Chester, New York. By engaging communities through farming, her farm is committed to food justice: “increasing the number of people growing and eating good food.”
Randy Wong is an exotica and jazz musician whose works are regularly featured on national programs such as NPR. He leads the exotica group, The WAITIKI 7, which has recently produced two chart-topping albums Adventures in Paradise and New Sounds of Exotica. Their work will be featured in Thursday’s broadcast.
Joining Morgan this week is Keith Ellison, U.S. Congressman from Minnesota’s 5th District and Deputy Chair of the Democratic National Committee. The first Muslim elected to Congress, Ellison promotes a philosophy of “generosity and inclusiveness.”
