With a broad range of comics and graphic memoirs, her works focus on explorations of her own identity, from dives into the lesbian community in Dykes to Watch Out For to her complicated and fraught relationship with her father in Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic. Bechdel is also the namesake for the Bechdel test, a way of measuring the depth of representation of women in fictional works.
